nostalgia.

It being 'roid week and all, it got me looking back at my pictures I took a couple years ago. I was really caught up in using my diana+ and Tyler had found a couple vintage Polaroid cameras that we used a lot. I love how simple film is, I love accidental double exposures, light leaks, things that happen when you're not even trying. Once I moved away from my schools photo lab, and large negative scanner, I stopped taking pictures with my diana+, and polaroids stopped being made (I think I still have a roll of film still in my diana!). I need to get back to film, I should find an old 35mm and pick it up again. I put up some of my photos on my flickr. Do you use film? When was the last time you took a film photo? Only getting one chance and having to wait until you could see it. Such a funny notion now.

  1. I stopped shooting film pretty much for the same reason, that and giving away my polaroid (what was I thinking??) but I've recently picked it up again with a pentax 35mm that Richard gave me and I'm really loving it! I was a little nervous when I picked my first film up but totally fell back in love with the colour and quality of seeing my photos like that. I totally agree with your thoughts on the simplicity and unpredictability of film, I hope to see more of yours!

  2. the last time i took a photo with film was years ago...my friend has some old german cameras and holgas that she might let me borrow though and that would be awesome. i love digital cameras but there's something so great and raw about film.

  3. With film, especially hand developed, I feel as if I'm part of the process. Maybe it's just getting messy with the materials but I feel such reward when I see the final photograph! I've been shooting with my Pentax k1000, b.w film.

  4. I love your "old" photos. The other day Someone asked me which I liked best, film or digital. I realized, results aside, I had a lot more fun taking pictures w/film. I still have my 35mm (without lense) you are welcome to use.

  5. I still shoot a roll a week of 35mm. I have so many 120 films for my diana+ just waiting to be used, but i have to send those away for developing which is a pain. I like to mix it up and use digital and film. At the moment my Canon AV-1 35mm is my favourite. With my wide lens superheadz in second place.
